International and Business Colaborations 

     The program has several national and international collaborations, as well as a special international orientation program, in which our students are co-oriented by foreign researchers until the end of their doctorate. See below some of our international advisors.

   Professor Norman Ratcliffe is currently Visiting Professor in our program, previously a professor of zoology at the University of Swansea, Wales for 25 years, where he has published more than 200 articles and books. His research interests currently include the immune defenses of larvae and also cover many other areas such as leprosy, cancer, tuberculosis and natural products of insects with antimicrobial action.

International coorientation concluded with published theses

  Professor Orquídea Coelho is currently Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Psychology of Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) and at the Center for Research and Educational Intervention (CIIE) in Portugal, where she published numerous articles and books. Her interests involve deafness, scientific dissemination and teaching among others.

Thesis: Portuguese

     Professor of Microbiology and Medical Immunology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Doerenkamp-Zbinden in Baltimore, USA, having experience in clinical and experimental pharmacology and toxicology with more than 350 publications. Previous work was centered on the immunological recognition of bacteria, including pyrogen tests, and induced inflammatory response. Established the Center for Alternative Testing in Animals (CAAT), a laboratory for developmental neurotoxicity research based on genomics and metabolomics.

Thesis: English / Portuguese

     Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the UF College of Medicine, having focused his laboratory for the last 5 years on the mapping of genetic elements of HSV-1 genome that respond to stress and facilitates the reactivation of the latency of this virus. This researcher still focuses on the development of HSV as a vector for gene therapy. By modifying existing HSV-1 vectors to improve their expression properties in the nervous system as a potential therapy for recurrent stromal keratitis and for antiglioma therapies.
